TCMB Keeps Interest Rates Steady Amid Rising Inflation Concerns
Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankası (TCMB), politika faiz oranlarını yüzde 37'de sabit tutmaya karar verdi. Bu kararla, banka enflasyonun ana eğiliminin
The Turkish Central Bank (TCMB) has decided to keep its policy interest rates at 37%. In its announcement, the bank highlighted that inflation's core trend had slightly declined in June but warned of a potential temporary rise in July. TCMB noted that energy price increases were accelerating due to geopolitical uncertainties, while also pointing to a weakening domestic demand. The bank emphasized that a tight monetary policy stance would continue until price stability is achieved. TCMB Governor Fatih Karahan stated that steps regarding the policy rate would be determined with a focus on inflation outcomes, trends, and expectations, ensuring the necessary tightness for de-escalation. The bank also pledged to closely monitor liquidity conditions and effectively utilize liquidity management tools. Additionally, TCMB announced that the Monetary Policy Committee Meeting Summary would be published within five business days.
The TCMB's decision has led to a cautious short-term market outlook, with inflation expectations showing signs of easing. However, long-term risks remain a key consideration for Turkey's macroeconomic stance.
