S-400 Negotiations Underway: U.S. S-400 Condition and Cyprus Policy Clash
Milli Savunma Bakanlığı, ABD'nin CAATSA yaptırımlarının kaldırılması için S-400 sistemlerinin devrine ilişkin çalışmaların çok yönlü olarak sürdüğünü

The Ministry of National Defense announced that negotiations regarding the transfer of S-400 systems to lift U.S. CAATSA sanctions are progressing in a multi-faceted manner. The ministry stated that any concrete developments will be shared with the public. It was recalled that Turkey faced CAATSA sanctions in 2020 due to its acquisition of S-400 systems from Russia. The U.S. also excluded Ankara from the F-35 program. Recent intensification in U.S.-Turkey defense dialogues has brought the S-400 issue back into focus. In the same briefing, the ministry criticized the European Parliament's resolution on the 'impact of the 1974 intervention on Cypriot women and girls.' The ministry characterized the resolution as baseless and unfair, emphasizing that the 1974 Peace Operation saved the Turkish Cypriot community from annihilation. Turkey reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the rights and security of the Turkish Cypriot people as a guarantor state. These developments highlight Turkey's stance on the U.S. S-400 condition and how the Cyprus issue is being addressed internationally. Observing the future of S-400 systems and new developments in U.S.-Turkey relations will be crucial for market implications.
