Aegean Exports Scale Historic Peaks Amid Shadow of Financing Costs
Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri (EİB), temmuz ayında dış satımlarını %7 artırarak 1 milyar 746 milyon dolar seviyesine taşıyarak tüm zamanların en yüksek ayl

The Aegean Exporters' Associations (EIB) escalated its export volume by 7% in July, reaching $1.746 billion and marking the highest monthly performance in history, while annual export figures surpassed the $19 billion threshold.
Data Behind the Record Performance
This robust ascent in the region's foreign trade signals an increase in global demand and diversified production capacity, yet structural issues beyond the numbers are drawing scrutiny:
The Financing Bill and Sectoral Call
EIB Coordinator Chairperson Muhammet Öztürk emphasized that despite this record table, high financing costs remain the biggest obstacle for exporters, stating that urgent structural steps are required for sustainable sector growth. Öztürk expressed expectations for the implementation of a specialized financing model by Eximbank tailored specifically to the needs of the agricultural sector.
The high-interest rate environment and rising costs directly impact exporters' Net Interest Margins (NIM) and cash flows, threatening operational efficiency. The introduction of sector-specific credit and guarantee mechanisms, particularly for strategic areas like agriculture, is the most effective way to breathe life into the real sector without straining the banking system's Capital Adequacy Ratios (CAR). At this juncture, Eximbank's role should evolve beyond a mere credit provider to a strategic partner optimizing the liquidity management of exports.
