Record Fine Bill of 176 Million Lira in Industrial Inspections

The Ministry of Industry and Technology has unveiled a staggering administrative penalty balance sheet of 175.9 million TRY following a rigorous inspection process focused on life and property safety in the market during the first half of the year. While 26,310 industrial products were placed under the microscope in operations centered on human health and environmental safety, the inspections were heavily weighted toward elevators and electrical equipment.
Chain of Non-Compliance in Market Surveillance
In controls carried out by ministry teams, a significant portion of the inspected products was found to fail to comply with technical regulations. The data reveals that non-compliance rates deepened sectorally and that risks increased in specific product groups.
Sectoral Penalty Distribution and the Weight of Elevators
The distribution of administrative penalties followed a trajectory proportional to the areas of intensive inspection, with fines imposed on the elevator sector constituting half of the total sanctions. This sector, which is of critical importance in terms of safety, became the side paying the heaviest price financially.
Volumetric Scanning in Metrology Field
In addition to industrial product inspections, a comprehensive scan was conducted in the field of metrology to ensure the accuracy of weighing and measuring instruments. These inspections, aimed at guaranteeing the fair operation of commercial life, target securing the reliability of measurement systems.
From a data science perspective, the 9.28% general non-compliance rate and the 176 million TRY sanction volume signal a significant increase in regulatory cost pressure on the industrial sector. The penalty clusters in high-volume sectors like elevators and automotive are pulling the risk premium on operational margins higher. This data set reinforces the necessity for companies to incorporate compliance costs into their financial models in the coming period.
