China Imposes $765 Million Penalty on Trip.com for Market Monopoly Allegations
Çin'in pazar düzenleyicisi, Trip.com Group'a 'pazarı tekelleştirmek' suçlamasıyla 5,2 milyar yuan (765 milyon dolar) ceza verdi. Şirket, 2020'den beri

China's market regulator fined Trip.com Group nearly 5.2 billion yuan ($765 million) for alleged monopolistic conduct. The company, which operates Ctrip and Skyscanner, has been accused of restricting competition by entering exclusive partnerships with hotels and prioritizing their traffic. The regulator confiscated over 1.6 billion yuan ($245 million) in 'illegal gains' and imposed a fine exceeding 3.5 billion yuan ($520 million). Trip.com was also ordered to refund about 122 million yuan ($18 million) to hotel operators. The company acknowledged the decision and pledged to implement rectification measures.
This penalty could reshape the global travel industry's competitive landscape, particularly in Asia where Trip.com holds significant influence.
