Borsa İstanbul Vadeli İşlem ve Opsiyon Piyasası'nda (VİOP) işlem gören ağustos vadeli BIST 30 endeks kontratı, hafta başında önceki kapanışa göre %0,6

The August-dated BIST 30 index futures contract in Borsa Istanbul's Derivatives and Options Market (VİOP) opened the week with a 0.64% decline from its previous close, trading at 17,135.00 points. On Friday, the contract ended the regular session with a 1.39% gain at 17,245.00 points and extended its rise in the after-hours session to 17,262.00 points. Geopolitical risks overshadowed local economic data releases.
Impact of Escalating Geopolitical Risks on Markets
Global markets kicked off the week on a bearish note amid intensified U.S.-Iran tensions and ongoing risks linked to the Hormuz Strait. This environment contributed to the initial decline in the futures contract.Payments Balance Expectations and Domestic Data Focus
The May-dated Payments Balance data, to be announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB), drew attention from domestic investors. Economists surveyed by AA Finance estimated the current account deficit at $1.1275 billion for May and $52.255 billion for the full year.Technical Support and Resistance Levels
Analysts noted that the August futures contract is positioned with 17,000 and 16,900 points as support levels and 17,200 and 17,300 points as resistance. Today, domestic focus remains on the Payments Balance and retail sales, while externally, the U.S. federal budget balance data will be monitored.Caner Yılmaz Analysis: The decline in VİOP signals a cautionary tale on how geopolitical tensions could impact Turkish markets. While short-term contracts slipped 0.64%, the 17,000-16,900 point support zone may act as a buying barrier. However, the contract's trajectory is expected to clarify once global risk sentiment eases.
