Career Shifts in the AI Era: Why Even the Most Adaptable Get Stuck
Küresel iş gücü piyasasında, on yılları bulan tecrübenin bir anda **Yapay Zeka** tarafından anlamsızlaşmasıyla karşı karşıya kalan profesyoneller, sad

In the global labor market, professionals facing the sudden obsolescence of decades of experience due to Artificial Intelligence are falling into a major misconception by relying solely on their "adaptability." Experts have made a startling discovery regarding why individuals feel locked in despite successful career pivots amidst this rapid wave of change in the business world: the problem lies not in the new job, but in the old definition of success carried in the individual's mind.
The AI Shock Against Decades of Expertise
As the dynamics of the workforce obliterate traditional career paths, the strategy of surviving merely by learning new skills is no longer sufficient on its own. Analyses indicate that the void created by AI technology rendering experience irrelevant cannot be filled by adaptation alone; it requires a deep sense of "curiosity."
It appears that while professionals successfully adapt to a new future, they continue to judge themselves against expectations developed years ago. This triggers a feeling of running in place despite being in constant motion.
The Trap of "Legacy" Success Metrics
The greatest paradox of career changes is the individual carrying old "success indicators" into their new role. In the past, getting promoted, managing more people, or becoming an authority figure could be defined as success; however, in new career stages, these metrics may fall short of providing satisfaction.
As emphasized by Dr. Diane Hamilton, the root issue lies not in the job itself, but in the standards of evaluation. When individuals update the standards required for satisfaction, they can prevent unnecessary new career shifts and the feeling of being "stuck."
We observe this situation clearly in global supply chains as well. When a crisis occurs in the Suez or Panama Canals, merely adapting to the old route (waiting longer) sinks the ship and the investment. What comes into play here is not adaptation, but the "curiosity" and strategic vision to change the route entirely. Career ships are similar; trying to navigate new oceans with old maps will trap even the best captains in dead ends. If you do not revise your definition of success according to the new dynamics of the market, reaching the harbor becomes impossible.
