El Pollo Loco's Turnaround Plan Completed in 2 Years
El Pollo Loco'nun CEO'su Liz Williams, 2024 Mart'ında 3 yıllık bir dönüşüm planıyla görevine başladı. Bu plan, marka bilinirliği ve birim seviyesindek

El Pollo Loco's CEO, Liz Williams, launched a three-year turnaround plan in March 2024, focusing on brand awareness and unit-level economics. However, by the second quarter, the chain exceeded expectations. Same-store sales increased by 3.9%, and the restaurant contribution margin rose to 19.5%, surpassing the original target range of 18% to 20%. The success stems from new menu items: Loco Tenders attracted younger customers, particularly for late-night and snacking orders. Loaded Quesadillas, launched in June, added a budget-friendly option under $10, while a new coffee lineup, including horchata and iced coffee, filled a missing afternoon slot. The chain is also expanding faster than planned, with 18-20 new restaurants expected this year, nearly doubling last year's pace. Idaho's entry as the 10th state further solidifies El Pollo Loco's growth trajectory.
This turnaround highlights how a quick-service restaurant can execute a brand transformation effectively. It also presents an investment opportunity for those monitoring the fast-casual sector.
