Fed's Rate Decision: Market Expectations Clash with Policy
Federal Rezerv, faiz oranlarını değiştirmeyi reddetti. 9-3 oy oranıyla alınan karar, merkezi banka yöneticilerinin politikalarındaki bölünmeyi ortaya

The Federal Reserve held interest rates unchanged, with a 9-3 vote that exposed divisions among central bank officials. Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan, Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari, and Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack dissented, marking a reversal from last month's unanimous decision. The FOMC's statement highlighted strong economic activity and falling unemployment, but acknowledged inflation concerns amid Middle East conflicts. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh emphasized a 'resolute commitment' to price stability, while other officials pushed for tighter monetary policy. Logan suggested rates should be 'modestly higher,' and Hammack, Kashkari, and Governor Christopher Waller signaled support for higher rates. In June's meeting, many officials expected rates to remain at current levels by year-end, though others anticipated higher rates. Bank of America analysts project three quarter-point hikes this year, potentially raising rates to 4.25%-4.5%. Expectations remain that rates won't cut until Q2 2027. Inflation persists due to the Iran war, with the Fed's preferred CPI data rising at its fastest pace in nearly three years. A brief Iran-US truce led to lower oil prices and temporary cooling in consumer prices. Warsh pledged the Fed would 'get monetary policy right,' vowing the past five years' inflation surge would be a thing of the past.
Markets interpreted the Fed's rate hold as prolonging inflation expectations. The VIX surged 5%, signaling gamma squeeze risks in options markets. Corporate earnings reports will face a more complex environment with shifting rate expectations. Companies are analyzing how rate hikes may impact debt obligations and consumer behavior. The Earnings Season will unfold in a volatile macroeconomic backdrop.
