Global LNG Price Surge Reflects in Electric Markets

In 2023, the surge in global LNG prices has reflected in electric markets across various countries. In the EU, the average spot electricity price rose by 15% year-on-year in the first half of 2026. While Japan saw a 30%+ increase in the second quarter, Australia and India experienced declines of 30% and 7%, respectively, in the first half. According to the report, during the period of March 2-July 16, Asian spot LNG prices averaged 65% higher than pre-crisis levels, while Europe's benchmark natural gas price TTF rose more than 50%.
