OVP and Budget Planning: Turkey's 2027-2029 Economic Roadmap

Turkey's three-year economic roadmap is being finalized as the Medium-Term Program (MTP) prepared by the Presidential Strategy and Budget Office and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance is set to be unveiled on September 7. The MTP will outline key macroeconomic indicators for the 2027-2029 period, including inflation, growth, unemployment, current account balance, exports, and imports. It will also set targets for public finance and budget balance, funding ceilings for public administration, and policy frameworks for priority reform areas. The program will be adjusted annually based on implementation results and economic changes. Following the MTP, the 2027 Central Government Budget will be prepared and submitted to the Grand National Assembly by October 17. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized that the economy is in a period of intense work, with the MTP completed and reform proposals being prepared for submission to parliament. Deputy President Cevdet Yılmaz previously stated that the updated MTP will be shared with the public in the first week of September, emphasizing that price stability remains the top priority while also targeting growth, employment, and investment support.

The determination of Turkey's macroeconomic policies at this stage will enhance predictability for both public and private sectors in the coming years. Markets should monitor the details of the MTP and budget planning to assess credit and FX risks.
