UK Consumers Shift Spending to Picnic Staples Amid Heatwave
İngiltere'de son aylarda yoğun ısınma dalgası, tüketicilerin alışveriş davranışlarını belirgin şekilde değiştirdi. Worldpanel by Numerator'un raporuna

The UK heatwave has dramatically reshaped consumer shopping habits, with Worldpanel by Numerator reporting a 24% surge in sales for 'picky bits' like potato salad, olives, and coleslaw. Ice cream sales rose 26%, while frozen fruit sales soared 48%. The heatwave delayed evening meals, with 13% now eaten after 8pm, and increased demand for cold products by 6.2%. Discounted shopping drove supermarket promotions to their highest level this year (31.3% of sales), while post-World Cup spending slowed, reducing average basket size by £14.24. Online grocery sales surged 10% in value and 5% in units, outpacing in-store shopping. Convenience store sales hit their strongest growth in over a year at 3.6%. The trend suggests basket resets and potential short-term voucher returns as the season changes.
