Saab Secures €870 Million Order for German Navy's New Frigates: A New Frontier in Defense Tech

Saab has secured an order worth 8.7 billion SEK (€870 million) for the modernization of the German navy's new frigates. The Swedish defense technology leader will play a key role in the modernization of 12 frigates for the German Bundesmarine, scheduled for delivery between 2026 and 2030. This partnership strengthens Saab's strategic position in the naval systems segment while addressing Germany's modernization needs. The technologies Saab will deploy include advanced radar systems, electronic warfare capabilities, and automated defense systems. This order is expected to help Saab exceed its 1.5 billion SEK (€150 million) earnings target for 2023 and contribute to a 12% growth in 2024. Markets are viewing this development as a new phase of competition in the defense sector. Saab's success underscores Sweden's growing prominence in international defense technology.
