Borsa Istanbul closed the previous trading session in negative territory under the shadow of escalating global geopolitical tensions and weekend de-risking, with technical levels pointing to a critical threshold for future direction. The BIST 100 index completed the day at 14,397 points, representing a 0.43% daily decline.

Geopolitical Headwinds and Weekend De-risking Pressures

Rising tensions between the US and Iran have driven oil prices higher, exerting pressure on energy-importing emerging markets like Turkey. Selling pressure from algo-funds aiming to reduce risk margins ahead of the weekend is driving volatility.

■The daily loss stood at 62 points.

■The pivot level is closely monitored at 14,410 in TRY terms.

■USD-based critical resistance is concentrated in the 304.1 - 310.2 band.

Technical Boundaries: The 14,000 Threshold and Critical Support Lines

For the upward trend to maintain its medium-term strength, persistence above the 14,000 psychological barrier is required. Daily closes below this level could deepen the selling pressure.

■TRY resistance levels on the upside: 14,550, 14,705, and 14,845 points.

■TRY support levels on the downside: 14,255, 14,115, and 13,960 points.

■USD-based support levels: 297.9, 295.0, and 291.8 dollars.

Slips below the 14,410 pivot level on the BIST 100 strengthen the tendency to test the Senkou Span A boundary of the Ichimoku cloud. For the index, which has drifted away from short-term moving averages (EMA 21), the 14,000 zone—corresponding to the Fibonacci 38.2% retracement level—acts as the primary fortress. We observe that our algo-trading algorithms have increased cash allocations to minimize weekend risk; indeed, closes below 14,255 could trigger negative divergence in momentum indicators (RSI and MACD). As the search for safe havens continues, aggressive long positions should be avoided until 14,550 is cleared.
