The Hormuz Dilemma and Global Energy Corridors: Risk Scenarios Extending Into 2027
Ortadoğu’da tırmanan jeopolitik gerilimler, küresel enerji piyasalarını ve tedarik zincirlerini uzun vadeli bir belirsizlik sarmalına sürüklüyor. Anal

Escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are dragging global energy markets and supply chains into a spiral of long-term uncertainty. Analysts project that despite the continued partial flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, the risk of conflict could extend deep into 2027. The inability to fully close the Strait weakens Tehran's leverage over global markets, which paradoxically increases the likelihood of more aggressive escalations in the region.
Partial Flow in Hormuz and Tehran's Weakening Leverage
While the failure to fully block the Strait of Hormuz provides temporary breathing room for global oil supplies, it complicates the geopolitical equation. The absence of a total shutdown prevents an immediate spike in oil prices but diminishes Iran's primary strategic leverage.
Global Inflation and the Central Bank Policy Dilemma
This chronic tension in energy corridors directly impacts not only crude oil prices but also global inflation expectations. For European economies heavily reliant on imported energy, this situation presents a double-edged sword.
This structural uncertainty in energy markets severely constrains the European Central Bank's (ECB) monetary policy maneuverability. While ongoing leakages in the Strait of Hormuz prevent an immediate oil shock, a war of attrition extending into 2027, combined with shifting global trade tariff policies, will fuel stagflationary pressures. It is becoming increasingly inevitable for the ECB to adopt a more cautious rate-cut path and maintain a protective stance against headline inflation volatility across the Eurozone. — Defne Aydın, Geopolitical Risk and European Markets Director
