However, the Treasury's Chief Secretary, Lucy Rigby, has stated that no analysis has been conducted on how to secure these funds. This lack of planning has been cited as one of the reasons for the dramatic resignation of Defence Secretary John Healey. The UK aims to increase its defence spending to 3.5% of GDP by 2035.
