Zevia Under Activist Pressure: 'Missed the Category Shift'
Zevia, alternatif şekerli soda pazarında lider konumunu koruyamadı. Kanen Wealth Management, şirketin 2023-2024 döneminde %83 büyüyen sektörde %6,8 dü

Zevia, a pioneer in the lower-sugar soda category, faces activist investor pressure amid declining sales. Kanen Wealth Management claims the company failed to capitalize on the 83% growth in the modern soda sector between 2023-2024, while Zevia's sales dropped 6.8%. Despite spending $225 million on marketing and distribution from 2022-2025, net sales declined. The company now trades at $1.32 per share, down from $14 at its 2021 IPO. Kanen cites PepsiCo's $1.95 billion acquisition of Poppi and Olipop's $1.85 billion valuation as reasons for Zevia's potential appeal. The activist suggests a buyout at $2.75-$3.75 per share. Zevia reported a 1.1% increase in Q2 net sales but noted volume declines. The company appointed Red Bull executive Alexandre Ruberti as CEO.
Zevia's strategic missteps reflect broader challenges in the alternative soda sector, including supply chain pressures and shifting consumer preferences. A potential sale may be necessary to retain market share in this competitive landscape.
