Nvidia (NVDA) has reportedly agreed to acquire Hugging Face for $12.9 billion, marking one of its largest acquisitions and securing control over a key platform in the open-source AI ecosystem. Strategically, this move will strengthen Nvidia's position in the AI software and developer layer, potentially reinforcing demand for its GPUs and CUDA ecosystem. The acquisition comes as Nvidia's AI growth story remains exceptionally strong, with the company delivering another powerful quarterly performance. Revenue reached a record $96.2 billion, up 106% year-over-year and 18% sequentially. Net income surged 118% to $54 billion, while adjusted EPS jumped 120%. Nvidia's outlook for Q3 is $108 billion, excluding China Data Center revenue. Analysts expect continued momentum, with EPS growth of 95.2% in 2027 and 41.1% in 2028. Raymond James suggests Nvidia could generate $1 trillion in annual revenue by fiscal 2029. Markets anticipate the acquisition will further solidify Nvidia's position across the AI software and open-source model ecosystem.
