BTCPay Server Security Breach: Lightning Network Nodes Targeted
BTCPay Server, Lightning Network (LND) yazılımındaki kritik bir güvenlik açığının istismar edilmesi sonucu, saldırganların düğüm kontrollerini ele geç

BTCPay Server has implemented emergency restrictions on remote Lightning Network access following a critical vulnerability exploit that allowed attackers to seize control of LND-based nodes and drain funds.
LND Credential Compromise
The breach enabled unauthenticated remote attackers to obtain "macaroon" credential files, granting them control over Lightning Network Daemon (LND) implementations. To mitigate further losses, BTCPay has temporarily suspended public remote connections, preventing external wallets like Zeus from connecting via BTCPay Server domains or Tor onion addresses.
Institutional Impact and Asset Drains
The immediate fallout of the exploit includes:
A Pattern of Layer-2 Vulnerabilities
This incident highlights a growing security deficit within the Bitcoin software ecosystem. The breach follows the recent Coldcard hardware wallet flaw, which was linked to more than $100 million in confirmed losses, underscoring that while the underlying Bitcoin protocol remains secure, the software surrounding it is facing escalating threats.
The security of Layer-2 scaling solutions is currently the Achilles' heel for institutional Bitcoin adoption. As we see more capital moving into Lightning-based liquidity, the gap between protocol-level security and implementation-level vulnerabilities must be bridged to prevent systemic trust erosion. On-chain discrepancies and unexpected channel closures are warning signs that infrastructure providers must address to maintain institutional-grade confidence.
