Larry Page-Backed Pivotal Loses CEO: How eVTOL Industry Shifts
Pivotal Air, Larry Page'in yatırımlarından olan elektrikli dikey iniş-çıkış (eVTOL) teknolojisi şirketi, uzun süredir CEO'su olan Ken Karklin'in ayrıl

Pivotal Air, the eVTOL technology company backed by Larry Page, announced the departure of its long-serving CEO, Ken Karklin. Karklin, who led Pivotal for over four years, is stepping aside to pursue new ventures. The company will be temporarily led by Mike Ross, an aviation executive who joined Pivotal’s board in November 2025.
Pivotal’s Strategic Growth and Technological Advancements
Pivotal has established itself as a leader in the eVTOL sector by launching its Helix, a single-seat electric aircraft priced around $200,000. The Helix does not require a pilot’s license and has been sold since Pivotal began sales two years ago. The company is also developing BlackFly, an aircraft designed for defense and first-responder use cases. BlackFly was used for the first time in an emergency response in North Carolina, beating an ambulance by 20 minutes. The aircraft has completed over 10,000 flights.
Karklin’s Leadership and Future Outlook
Karklin highlighted that Pivotal has transitioned from prototypes to real-world operations. 'This industry has moved beyond promises and press releases; it’s now operating under real constraints with real consequences for the future of Advanced Air Mobility.' He expressed confidence that the foundation built at Pivotal will support the industry’s growth.
Pivotal’s Future and Investor Implications
Ross emphasized Karklin’s leadership in bringing Pivotal to its current position. 'Pivotal’s disciplined approach to safety, engineering, and accessibility has delivered on the vision of electric VTOL flight.' The company aims to bring its fourth-generation Helix aircraft to market.
Pivotal’s CEO change reflects the rapid growth of the eVTOL sector and the challenges ahead. The company’s innovations, such as BlackFly, are redefining emergency response capabilities and raising questions about the future of urban mobility.
