PepsiCo (PEP), a global food and beverage giant with a market cap of $192.5 billion, has seen its stock decline by 17.7% year-to-date, dropping from its 52-week high of $171.48 to $140. Over the past three months, it has underperformed the XLP ETF by 3.6%, while on a YTD basis, it has lagged behind XLP's 10% increase. In the past 52 weeks, PEP has declined by 4.5%, compared to XLP's 6.5% gain. Despite a 6.4% revenue growth and 2.20 core EPS in Q2 2024, PepsiCo maintained its 2026 outlook of 2%-4% organic revenue growth and 4%-6% core EPS growth, which fell short of investor expectations for stronger guidance. Coca-Cola (KO) has surged 31.2% over the same period. Analysts' average price target of $155.14 represents a 10% premium over current levels.
PEP's market share decline is linked to a 2% drop in North American food sales and rising packaging costs. This has led to a cautious outlook for 2026, but analysts' 'Moderate Buy' rating suggests long-term potential remains.
