TerraPower’s Nuclear Reactor Offers a Secret Weapon for Powering AI Data Centers
Bill Gates'in kuruluşu TerraPower, nükleer teknolojiyi kullanarak yapay zeka (AI) veri merkezlerinin enerji ihtiyacını karşılamak için yenilikçi bir ç

Bill Gates-founded TerraPower is pioneering a nuclear-powered solution to meet the energy demands of artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. According to Bloomberg, the company plans to announce its first data center project this year. TerraPower’s 345 MW molten salt-cooled reactor, currently under construction in Wyoming, is designed for rapid ramping and integration with intermittent energy sources like wind and solar. Key features include: - Capacity factor of 92.5% - Ramp rate of 10% per minute - Energy storage via molten sodium - Ideal for data centers: accommodates rapid GPU load fluctuations TerraPower’s approach combines nuclear energy’s high capacity factor (92.5%) with renewable integration capabilities. This addresses critical needs for AI data centers, including fast ramping and energy storage. The company’s partnership with Meta, which purchased eight Natrium power plants in January, underscores its industry relevance.
This technology could provide reliable power for data centers during energy crises. Additionally, nuclear reactors’ high capacity factor ensures continuous operation for data centers. TerraPower’s solution may set a new standard for AI infrastructure.
