Automotive Liquidity Crisis: Inventory Surges as Demand Collapses
Türkiye otomotiv pazarı, yıl başında beslenen **1,3-1,4 milyon** adetlik rekor satış iyimserliğinin ardından sert bir gerçeklikle karşı karşıya. Temmu

The Turkish automotive market is facing a harsh reality, following the optimistic year-start projections of 1.3-1.4 million units. July data reveals not just a slowdown, but a severe demand shock, where overflowing showrooms are meeting consumers blocked by a rigid credit wall.
The July Brake and Market Contraction
According to ODMD data, the market shrank by over 25% year-on-year in July, falling to 80,786 units. This represents the lowest July performance recorded since 2022.
The End of 'Investment Asset' Logic and the Credit Barrier
The core of the slump lies in the loss of the automobile's status as a financial investment tool. Consumers no longer expect short-term value appreciation, while the inability to access financing has brought purchases to a standstill.
Emission Pressure and the EV Tax Trap
Manufacturers seeking to avoid emission penalties in Europe have redirected internal combustion engine (ICE) stocks to Turkey, creating an artificial supply glut. Despite price cuts of up to 500,000 TL, this has failed to stimulate demand.
The current market state indicates a structural financing crisis rather than a simple supply-demand imbalance. Manufacturer strategies to clear inventory through discounts will remain ineffective unless credit channels are reopened. Specifically, the tax bracket risks in the EV segment are paralyzing pricing strategies, and the risk of the market sliding to 1.2 million units by year-end threatens the financial sustainability of distributors.
