EU Plans Sweeping New Sanctions Against Russia in Autumn: 3,000+ Individuals and Entities Targeted
AB, sonbaharda Rusya'ya yönelik en geniş kapsamlı yaptırım listesini sunmayı planlıyor. Die Welt gazetesine verdiği röportajda Avrupa Komisyonu Başkan

The EU is set to unveil its most comprehensive sanctions package against Russia this autumn. Martin Kallas, spokesperson for EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, told Die Welt that the 21 sanctions packages imposed since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022 have already cost Russia over 1 trillion euros. Kallas emphasized that new measures will intensify economic pressure on Russia until the war ends, potentially tripling the number of sanctioned Russian individuals, companies, and entities. Currently, around 3,000 people and organizations are under EU sanctions for Russia. The new restrictions are expected to cover trade, finance, energy, and technology sectors, though details remain undisclosed. Existing measures include bans on Russian oil imports, restrictions on Russian bank transactions, and suspensions of Russian media outlets. Sanctions require unanimous approval from EU member states and target Russia's alleged threats to Ukraine's territorial integrity. This move marks a new phase in the EU's economic warfare against Russia amid the ongoing conflict.
The sanctions, imposed following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, have become a key tool to hinder Russia's economic growth. The new measures could lead to further depreciation of the Russian ruble and increased outflows of foreign investment from Russia. Turkey's dependence on Russia for energy and trade may also be impacted by these developments.
