Sequoia-Incubated Empirik Raises $21M to Predict Tech Outages Before They Happen

Empirik, a startup incubated by Sequoia Capital, is spinning out as an independent company after raising $21 million in seed funding. Founded by Avon Puri (former Rubrik and VMware executive) and Sudheer Dhurjati, Empirik uses AI to track system changes and predict potential outages in large-scale IT environments. The company aims to offload routine troubleshooting from DevOps and SRE teams, allowing them to focus on higher-value tasks. Empirik has already secured deals with Fortune 500 companies like S&P Global and Guardant Health. CEO Kartik Chandrayana envisions Empirik automating tasks for infrastructure engineers the way Cursor and Claude Code did for developers.
